Individual awards and decorations are earned and awarded based on an ECP (Earned credit points) system. This system authorizes awards for active participation and attendance at authorized events or functions. For purposes of clarity, the following information is provided.
A. Event/Battle
Any LAH approved tactical or non-tactical gathering of twenty (20) or more unit members for the purpose of furthering the objectives of the LAH. Exception to the twenty member rule may be authorized by the Regimental Commander.
B. Earned Credit Points (ECP)
One ECP will be awarded for each 25 miles spent traveling one way, to an authorized event up to 500 miles. Travel over 500 miles will count as double points.
1. Personnel participating in authentic camping will be authorized an additional 5 ECP's maximum regardless of the number of nights camped.
2. Special ECP point values may be authorized at the discretion of the Regimentalführer or designated representative.
C. Leadership
Defined as demonstrated performance of duty so exceptional and well above that of his peers that it has directly resulted in significantly improving the tactical impression or proficiency or administrative performance of his section or of the unit. An example would be a Gruppenführer consistently retaining a full Gruppe, proactively enforcing unit standards, staying in constant contact with his men between events, resolving personnel issues at the lowest level and working closely with the chain-of-command. Demonstrated supervision and control of subordinates are two key areas which will be evaluated for award of any leadership decorations.
D. Service
Defined as service or contributions which, over a sustained period of time, clearly distinguishes the member from his peers. Examples would be creating a series of useful newsletter articles on re-enacting (not after-action reports), providing the unit with a reputable source of inexpensive equipment or uniforms, managing the unit website, publishing the unit newsletter, maintaining the unit treasury, supporting the unit with vehicles, maintaining the unit records, etc. Another example would be the development and implementation of training programs which, over time, improve the unit’s authenticity or tactical capabilities.
E. Achievement
Defined as an act or series of acts well above the expected performance of duty or a contribution so unique or exceptional that it has an impact which very significantly affects the members unit or reenacting as a whole. It may increase morale, enhance authenticity, or improve performance or proficiency (not related to leadership). Examples would be the recruitment of several new quality members, hosting and conducting a large-scale event, providing a special service to the unit such as a field kitchen, etc.
F. Military Service
Recognition of unit members who have honorably served or are presently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces in any component, Active, Reserve or National Guard.

Awards Authorized for Individual Participation
1. Cuff Title "Adolf Hitler" (Armelband "Adolf Hitler")
Awarded to Kandidats upon successful completion of three (3) credited events as a paid LAH member. Actual cuff title is awarded without cost to the unit member in a formal formation.
2. Infantry Assault Badge (Infanterie Sturmabzeichen)
Awarded in two classes:
A. Bronze (Bronz) For accumulation of 75 ECP's for members who have no prior military service.
B. Silver (Silber) For accumulation of 75 ECP's for members who have prior military service.
3. Iron Cross 2nd Class (Eisernes Kreuz II. Klasse)
For accumulation of 100 ECP's.
4. Iron Cross 1st Class (Eisernes Kreuz I. Klasse)
For accumulation of 200 ECP's. and must have been awarded the I.C. 2nd Class. Individuals age 40 and above may wear the Imperial (WWI) Iron Cross.
5. Close Combat Clasp (Nahkampfspange)
Awarded in 3 classes:
A. Bronze (Bronz) For attending 25 approved events.
B. Silver (Silber) For attending 50 approved events.
C. Gold (Gold) For attending 100 approved events.
6. Wound Badge 1939 (Werwundeten-abzeichen)
Awarded in 3 classes:
A. Black (Schwarz) For sustaining a injury incurred while actually engaged in tactical maneuvers requiring a licensed physician's attention. Documentation required. Also awarded for attending a cumulative of 10 events without sustaining an injury.
B. Silver (Silber) For accumulation of two injuries incurred while actually engaged in tactical maneuvers. Also awarded for attending 30 events without sustaining an injury.
C. Gold (Gold) For accumulation of three injuries incurred while actually engaged in tactical maneuvers. Also awarded for attending 75 events without sustaining an injury.
The class of Wound Badge awarded may also be determined by the severity of the injury incurred. This determination will be made by the Bataillon Stab on a case by case basis.
7. Tank Assault Badge (Panzerkampfabzeichen)
Awarded in 2 classes:
A. Bronze (Bronz) For participation at 5 events as an actual crewmember (not passenger) of an original or approved reproduction armored vehicle.
B. Silver (Silber) For participation at 15 events as an actual crewmember (not passenger) of an original or approved reproduction armored vehicle.
8. East Medal (Ostmedaille) Awarded for participation in 8 Russian Front events.
9. Kuban Shield (Kuban-Schild) Awarded to enlisted men and NCO's for participation in a total of 15 Russian Front events.
10. Crimea Shield (Krim-Schild) Awarded to officers for participation in a total of 15 Russian Front events.
11. Anti-Partisan War Badge (Bandenkampfabzeichen)
Awarded in 3 classes:
A. Bronze (Bronz) Awarded for participation in 20 Russian Front events.
B. Silver (Silber) Awarded for participation in 25 Russian Front events.
C. Gold (Gold) Awarded for participation in 30 Russian Front events.
12. Driver's Badge of Merit (Kraftfahr-Bewahrungsabzeichen)
Awarded in 3 classes:
A. Bronze (Bronz) Awarded for participation at 5 events as an authorized and designated driver of an original or approved reproduction wheeled vehicle.
B. Silver (Silber) Awarded for participation at 10 events as an authorized and designated driver of an original or approved reproduction wheeled vehicle.
C. Gold (Gold) Awarded for participation at 20 events as an authorized and designated driver of an original or approved reproduction wheeled vehicle.
Awarded for the single-handed
destruction or capture of an Allied tank while avoiding capture or "death".
One badge may also be awarded for every 3 armored vehicles destroyed in the absence
of tanks. It must be emphasized that qualification for this award is based upon single-handed
destruction, not while serving as a member of a crew served weapon. Vehicles
destroyed during canned spectator events do not qualify for award. Documentation
must be submitted and verified by two LAH witnesses or the Bataillonführer.
Regardless of the number of tanks destroyed, only one Tank Destruction Badge
will be awarded for each event. Panzerfausts, Panzerschrecks or other
tank-destroying devices will not be passed around to other unit members so that
they may qualify for a tank destruction badge.
A. Silver (Silber) One silver badge for each tank destroyed (or one badge for each 3 armored vehicles destroyed) up to 4 badges.
B. Gold (Gold) One gold badge for each five tanks destroyed (or one gold badge for 15 armored vehicles destroyed). Once the gold badge is awarded, the four silver badges must be removed.
14. Rider’s Badge (Reiterabzeichen)
Awarded in three classes:
(a) Bronze (Bronz) - Awarded for bringing and utilizing a horse or horse drawn
vehicle at three (3) approved events. Documentation
required.
(b) Silver (Silber) - Awarded for bringing and utilizing a horse or
horse drawn vehicle at ten (10) approved events. Documentation required.
(c) Gold (Gold)- Awarded for bringing and utilizing a horse or horse drawn vehicle at twenty (20) approved events. Documentation required.

This category of awards recognizes unit members for advanced participation (ECP's in excess of 600 points). Two categories have been established in order to allow Category A members (up to age 39) wear Third Reich era awards and to allow Category B veterans (age 40 and above) wear World War I period awards.

Awarded to officers only for twenty (20) years continuous membership in the LAH
B. SS-Long Service Award (SS-Dienstauszeichenungen)
Awarded in 4 classes:
1. Fourth Class: Awarded for 3 years membership in the LAH.
2. Third Class: Awarded for 5 years membership in the LAH.
3. Second Class: Awarded for 8 years membership in the LAH.
4. First Class: Awarded for 12 years membership in the LAH.

A. Knight's Cross to the Iron Cross (Ritterkreuz des Eisernes Kreuz)

E. 1939 Spange to the Iron Cross, 2nd Class
Awarded by the Bataillonführer to members age 40 and above who have already been awarded the Iron Cross II Class. Spange will be worn on the Imperial EK II ribbon.
F. 1939 Spange to the Iron Cross, 1st Class
Awarded by the Bataillonführer to members age 40 and above who have already been awarded the Iron Cross I Class. Spange will be worn directly above the Imperial EK I. The Spange may be permanently affixed to the Imperial EK I.
G. Decoration of 9 November 1923-Blood Order (Ehrenzeichen von 9 November 1923-Blutorden)
Awarded for accomplishments above unit level.
H. Honor Roll Clasp of the German Army (Ehrenblatt-Spange des Heeres)
Awarded by the Regimental Commander only. Recipient must hold the Iron Cross 1st and 2nd Class.
I. Death Head Ring (Totenkopfring
The Totenkopfring is privately purchased and awarded personally by the Bataillonführer to selected unit members for special deeds or exceptional service to the unit. Wear of this ring by members not awarded it through the Bataillonführer is prohibited.

A. Award of the SS/ SA sports badge (Sportabzeichen)
Immediately upon completion of their 3rd recognized event, prior active duty military members, regardless of branch of service, are authorized to wear the SS/SA Sports Badge as follows:
1. Bronz- For 1-5 years active duty.
2. Silber- For 6-15 years active duty.
3. Gelb- For 16+ years active duty.
B. Silver Infantry Assault Badge
Once authorized for award
in accordance with the criteria established Section 3.a.2 of this chapter, prior
service members (active or Reserves) may wear the Infantry Assault Badge in
Silver. All other members will wear
Bronze.
C. Wehrmacht Long
Service Awards.
Authorized per the criteria
established in Section 8 below.

A. Fourth Class: For 4 years service.
B. Third Class: For 5 to 12 years service.
C. Second Class: For 13 to 18 years service.
D. First Class: For 19 to 25 years service.
E. First Class with Oakleaves: For 26 to 40 years service.

The authorization and wear of awards not covered in this Handbuch is prohibited. This includes wear of the Nazi Party Badge in any form. Wear of the Hitlerjugend pin is authorized for optional wear for members up to age 25. The marksmanship lanyard was strictly a Heer item and may not be worn. No sleeve diamonds except for the Sniper’s Badge, Signal Badge, Armorer’s Badge and Mechanic’s Badge will be worn. These will be authorized upon approval of the chain-of-command.
