Commissioned Ranks der Waffen-SS

SS-Obersturmbannführer (SS-Lt. Colonel): Highest rank currently utilized.  Must be assigned as Regimentalführer.
SS-Sturmbannführer (SS-Major): Must be assigned as Bataillonführer.
SS-Haupsturmführer (SS-Captain): Must be designated as Kompanieführer or Battalion Executive Officer. All others approved by Chief Council.
SS-Obersturmführer(SS-First Lieutenant):Appointee must have successfully performed all duties of an SS-Untersturmführer and approved by the Chief Council.
SS-Untersturmführer: (SS-Second Lieutenant):For individuals designated as Kompanieführer, propaganda officer, Battalion Adjutant or Platoon Leader. Appointment made by Battalionführer. All others approved by Chief Council.


Warrant Officer Ranks der Waffen-SS
SS-Sturmscharführer(SS-Warrant Officer):This rank is not currently utilized.


Non-commissioned Officer Ranks der Waffen-SS
SS-Hauptscharführer (SS-Sergeant Major):This rank is reserved for the Battalion Sergeant Major (Spieß). Appointment is made by the Battalionführer.
SS-Oberscharführer (SS-Master Sergeant):Held by key staff personnel and is authorized by recommendation of the Battalion Adjutant or Kompanieführer and approved by the Chief Council.
SS-Scharführer (SS-Staff Sergeant):Individual must have come up through the ranks and held the various responsible positions associated with this rank Personnel holding the position of Battalion Stabsscharführer will be promoted to this rank or to a rank designated by the Battalionführer. Promotion to SS-Scharführer is recommended by the Kompanieführer and approved by the Chief Council.
SS-Unterscharführer (SS-Sergeant):Individual must have met the requirements for promotion to SS-Rottenführer and displayed above average dedication and leadership qualities. SS-Unterscharführer may be selected for the position of Zugführer (Platoon Sergeant). Nominees for Unterscharführer are usually nominated by the Kompanieführer and approved by the Chief Council.
SS-Rottenführer (SS-Corporal):Appointed by the Battalion Adjutant upon approval by the Chief Council. Recommendation for promotion for this rank must come from the individual holding the rank of Unterscharführer (SS-Sergeant) or above.


Non-Rated Ranks
SS-Sturmann (SS-Lance Corporal):After satisfactorily completion of ten recognized events, SS-Panzerobergrenadiers are eligible for promotion to Sturmann. The nominee must have demonstrated leadership qualities and be recommended by his Gruppenführer and approved by the Chief Council. Individuals holding the rank of SS-Sturmann may also be selected for duties as Truppenführer (Assistant Squad Leader).
SS-Panzerobergrenadier (SS-Private First Class):Awarded after satisfactorily completing six events as a recognized member of the "LAH".
SS-Panzergrenadier (SS-Private):Awarded after satisfactorily completing three recognized events as a recognized member of the "LAH". Individual will also be authorized to wear the "LAH" cuff-title and be issued a Soldbuch upon promotion.
SS-Kandidat (SS-Recruit):Must be a dues paying member and application for membership must have been submitted and accepted by the Battalion Stab.
